The owners of Trulli Mirabello, decendants of a noble ancient Rome family, have been holidaying in the Valle d’Itria long before it became fashionable. Having regularly visited the area for many years the family decided to buy and restore Trulli Mirabello at a time when the majority of trulli that dotted the countryside were in a state of disrepair. During this time, trulli were either abandoned uninhabited ruins, used for storage or as shelter for animals. Occasionally you would see a poorly restored trulli where the beautiful stonework of the wall and cones were disfigured by crudely covered cement and plaster.
The family was one of the early modernists, visualising how the trulli could be converted into a comfortable home without loss of many of its original features. Today it is not uncommon to find finely restored "trulli" and "masserie", which are unique to this part of the world. The continuing transformation of the still unspoiled countryside has made the Valle d'Itria one of the main tourist attractions of the Mediterranean Region.
Today the Trulli Mirabello are available to the guests who decide to live an unforgettable holiday in a private residence surrounded by nature and the beauty of the Itria Valley, a welcoming land still little known, but full of unique treasures which have the colors of Italy: the white of its houses, the red of its land and the green of the olive trees.
Happy holiday!
